I have always been in love with art and was very much influenced by a handful of my family members. My dad is a comic book writer, my mom is a quilter who has been sewing her whole life, and I have an aunt who was a ceramicist and art teacher, so I was always encouraged to explore and make art.
In 2016 I started showing and selling my artwork at local art events in the Fox Valley area and I opened an Etsy shop. I joined several local Quilt Guilds and artist groups over the years trying to find where I most fit in. I have had some of my works up in shows at The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show, The Wisconsin Winter Quilt Show, Richeson School of Art & Gallery, The Trout Museum of Art, Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts, and I had my own show at the Langdon Divers Gallery at the Fond du Lac Public Library. In 2022 I had a mini quilt selected to be a part of The Graffiti Cherrywood Challenge that traveled throughout the US and Canada for all of 2023.
In 2022 I was hired to work as a Library Assistant at my local libraries' makerspace, The Idea Studio. My job there is to teach and educate patrons how to use the various pieces of equipment and machine that we have for people to use for free. I also plan and teach other types of art-based clubs, from printmaking, mixed media and other creative projects. I am also there to help guide and aid people as they make and create projects in the space.
I really like to incorporate recycling and reusing discarded or unwanted materials into my work, and that's why I use Funky Remnants as my moniker. I hope to transform something often overlooked and tossed out into something that speaks to use on a creative, artistic level. Most of the fabric, paper ephemera and art supplies that I incor
I really like to incorporate recycling and reusing discarded or unwanted materials into my work, and that's why I use Funky Remnants as my moniker. I hope to transform something often overlooked and tossed out into something that speaks to use on a creative, artistic level. Most of the fabric, paper ephemera and art supplies that I incorporate or use to make my works are mostly sourced from local thrift and secondhand shops or were things that have had since I was a child. To me no scrap, fabric remnant or trinket is too small for any project.

ARTIPHIX
Spreading the arts addiction around the Fox Valley. Find one to get your art fix.
Currently there are 2 Artiphix machines located downtown Appleton, Wisconsin. This one pictured below is called "Baby Blue" which is currently residing inside of a bar right off of College Ave called McFleshmans. Just recently a new machine named The Pink Panther went up and is now positioned in the lobby of the Red Lion Paper Valley Hotel, near the ADi office entry.
These machines are very similar to the Art-o-mat machines that have been around for a while. They are up-cycled, redone and repainted old cigarette or vending machines so they can carry art from about 20 different artists who then can have about 20-30 of their small art in these machines for sale for $20 each. These Artiphix machines are each updated and able to accept credit cards as the payment.
I currently have my work in both machines! ! ! ! I have some funky oval fabric brooches/ pins for sale in Baby Blue (as pictured below). And in The Pink Panther I have small mixed media collaged blocks available for purchase! I am working on getting some more pictures of The Pink Panther.
For more information about these check out their Facebook page- search ARTIPHIX
***Also local artists are encouraged to reach out to them on their FB page for an opportunity to be a part of this. There are supposedly 2 more machines in the works that will also be going up somewhere in and around Appleton- so they are more than likely looking for more local artists. spread the word and spread the art!!!
